Ingredients:

1/2 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg (lightly beaten, for brushing)
For the Strawberries:
1 pound fresh strawberries (hulled and sliced)
1/4 to 1/3 cup sugar (depending on sweetness preference)
1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional, for added brightness)
For the Whipped Cream:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
Prepare the Strawberries:
Slice and Sweeten:
In a large bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice if using.
Stir to coat the strawberries, then let them sit for at least 30 minutes to macerate and release their juices.
Make the Shortcake: 2. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. 🥣
